Man with a van, properly crewed
A smaller job, not a lesser one. The wrapping, the carrying and the care are exactly what they would be on a full house move — there is simply less of it, and no room-by-room inventory.
The phrase "man with a van" has come to mean a lot of different things, several of them involving you doing most of the lifting. Here it means two crew and a vehicle, and both of them carry.
What it is usually for
- A single room
- A student room, a study, a guest bedroom going to another address. Wrapped and carried, not stacked loose.
- One heavy piece
- A sofa, a dresser, a marble table, a safe. Tell us the dimensions and where it comes out from.
- A collection
- Furniture showrooms, auction houses, trade counters and storage sites, in HA5 and well beyond it.
- A delivery carried in
- Where the courier would leave it on the drive and the piece needs putting where it belongs.
- A part-load between two homes
- Splitting a household, helping a family member move out, moving a room back in again.
What we need to know before booking
Where it is coming from and going to, what is being moved, and what stands between the item and the vehicle at each end — stairs, a lift, a lane too narrow to drive down, a car park with a height barrier. Height barriers are worth mentioning specifically: they are the commonest reason a van has to stop further away than anyone expected.
Heavy and awkward pieces
Pianos, safes, large stone and marble, garden statuary and workshop machinery are all movable, but they are their own job rather than a van job with extra effort. Tell us the weight or the dimensions, where it stands now and what it has to come through, and we will tell you honestly whether it is us or a specialist rigger you need.
What we will not carry
Fuel, gas bottles, paint, solvents and anything else flammable or corrosive. Nothing perishable, nothing living. We do not do waste clearance and hold no waste carrier licence, so a load destined for the tip is not a job we can take.

01 What is the difference from a full removal?
Scale and planning, not care. A van job is a room, a piece of furniture, a collection or a delivery: two crew, one vehicle, no room-by-room inventory. The wrapping and the carrying are the same.
02 Will you collect from a shop or a warehouse?
Yes — furniture showrooms, auction houses, storage sites and trade counters, in and around HA5 and further out. Send the collection reference and the address, and tell us whether anyone there will help load.
03 Can you take a single very heavy item?
Often. Pianos, safes, large marble pieces and garden statuary are all possible, but they are specific jobs — tell us the weight or the dimensions and where it has to come out from before booking, because a heavy item in an awkward place needs the right crew, not more crew.
04 Do you help load, or just drive?
Both crew carry. A van job where you do the carrying is not something we offer; the point of the service is that the piece gets handled properly at both ends.
